Most pictures we see of Korean celebrities doing ‘flying’ yoga, drawing elegant Seoul Subway Lines through the air, were taken at ‘Omnibodyworks Cheongdam.’ This yoga center offers a well-developed program that befits its reputation. If you want to learn flying yoga but are worried because you are a beginner, take the basic muscle training class required for flying yoga training. If you have weak joints, Bungee physio is the best choice as an excellent exercise for pain prevention and rehabilitation, as it helps strengthen the core while the elastic bungee cord lifts the body weight. Bungee physio is an aerobic muscular exercise that uses all the body’s muscles, in which you hang from the ceiling using elastic ropes. It is also effective for weight loss as it consumes more than 1,000 kcal per hour. Omni Bodyworks Cheongdam teaches students how to use the elastic bungee cord and learn the right posture from the basics. In Ballet FIT, a hybrid of ballet and fitness, students use bars to learn the basics of ballet, and restore their balance. The upper body exercise for good posture strengthens the necessary muscles. Learners can prevent pain from excessive turns during lower body exercise and develop a healthy body by maintaining an appropriate angle. It is the time to fly and maximize the beauty of the mind and body. Pain may follow for a short while, but it shall pass.

Wander through the old quiet alleys of Bukchon to find ‘Bukchon Yogawon.’ Sitting inside here, you can see layers of tiled roofs of the traditional Korean houses in Bukchon through the big glass window. The leaves on trees blowing gently in the breeze bring peace to your mind. In Bukchon Yogawon, training is not about the perfection of the movement, but the whole process. It is a process of finding one’s own flow by connecting each and every movement through breathing properly. The movement doesn’t need to be perfect. It is also part of yoga to recognize what you are good at and what you are not good at while feeling every part of your body. When you focus on comfortable and deep breathing, the process of exhalation and inhalation – which we often forget during our busy days – feel strange. You don’t need to be intimidated by experienced yoga trainees and their movements. There is no need to worry about your inflexibility. By trying one movement after another while feeling comfortable, anyone can find their own rhythm. Here, you will experience the journey of finding your own rhythm, not anybody else’s.

Based in Seochon, Seoul ‘Yogarama Holistic’ offers yoga programs that are open to everyone, from workers living nearby to travelers just passing through. What is unique about its program is that it was developed through 28 years of training and research on human anatomy and kinesiology. It classifies the upper and lower body according to their function, and consists of intuitive movements that beginners can easily follow. Beom Yun, director of Yogarama Holistic, takes pride in the fact that in his multiple decades of teaching yoga, no member has ever been injured. The core Pilates program Yogarama Holistic offers mainly consists of movements that help you to relax, with a focus on the movement of the spine and the hips. But yoga is more than stretching your body to increase your physical flexibility. Yogarama Holistic does not compromise when it comes to yoga’s core principles; at its roots, yoga is an exercise through which the bodily senses and conscience meet through deep joint movement experience. The other competitive edge of Yogarama Holistic is Aayulle Mind Work, the psychological counselling center that helps trainees to foster their mindfulness. With experience in numerous clinical trials and psychological therapy at hospitals, the director leads the meditation program through an approach that is based on personal therapy, mindfulness and awareness. The makeup of the program is in Seoul Subway Line with Yogarama Holistic’s mission to provide quality meditation and training experience, through connecting body and mind to each other.

One of the benefits of exercising in water is that it is pleasurable and comfortable compared to other forms of exercise, as it puts less pressure on your joints due to gravity being less of a factor. Aqua Floatfit, which started in the UK in 2015, is an aquatic exercise in which individuals perform various movements on a mat floating on water. When aquatic exercise was still uncommon in Korea, Aquadio became a pioneer in Asia as well as Korea, offering the very first aqua floatfit classes in the country. CEO Young-eun Lee, who had been teaching Aquatic Pilates, accidentally came across a British Aquatic Floatfit video one day, and shortly thereafter was heading to the UK to learn more. After earning her aquatic floatfit instructor certification, she developed a highly effective curriculum for posture correction and calorie consumption using aqua mats in Korea. She stresses that what is really crucial in aquatic exercise is breathing rather than physical balance, and that all exercise begins with breathing the right way. This is due to the fact that the body will easily become fatigued if one does not breathe properly, as it is not only difficult to make correct movements but also oxygen is not supplied sufficiently. Making steps while regularly breathing on water is beneficial to the entire body, as it helps improve flexibility, muscle strength, agility, and reflexes, and strengthens the core without putting much of a burden on the joints.

Turtle neck syndrome, insomnia and anxiety are no longer strange to us in modern times. To eliminate chronic pain and daily stresses, we first must address the chronic posture, lifestyle and state of mind problems that destroy the balance between our body and mind. The Alexander Technique pursues the integration of body and mind by helping people recognize and correct their habits of poor posture and holding excessive tension in their muscles (Tonic Muscular Activity) that hinder comfortable movement. Participants learn about their own anatomy through the instructor’s teaching, and experience a relaxed state. The lesson involves observing and recognizing their own body using a sophisticated sense. They practice focusing on the present while recognizing and correcting the unnatural movements that originate from bad habits. The Alexander Technique guides individuals to reach a natural body and free mind from usual movements while staying awake, including breathing, walking, standing, and sitting. One tries to suppress habitual reactions, and stops for a moment when the habitual reaction occurs. In this way, he can recover naturalness and peace of mind. The Center aims to help people internalize this strength, so they can recover the balance between body and mind on their own.

Visitors can enjoy yoga and foot baths in the outdoor Sky yard on the 4th floor of Vista Walkerhill, Seoul, overlooking the Han River and the open landscape of Seoul. While this may be enough to fulfill some people’s wellness needs, Vista Walkerhill Seoul Wellness Club realizes wellness in a more systematic way. This is possible thanks to the joint management of Seoul National University Hospital, SK Telecom's healthcare company Health Connect and Walkerhill. Combining accommodation and wellness services, this program offers a balanced custom solution under a ‘healthcare concierge service’ concept that includes expert counseling, physical fitness tests, exercise, nutrition and rest. For example, the one-on-one underwater exercise is designed to improve muscle strength, balance, breathing muscles, and fatigue while minimizing the burden on joints and spine in the water. Its customized management service also offers body shaping studio facilities and diet programs used by foreign celebrities. The balance program, which corrects body shape such as pelvis and spinal cord, and the 'Detox program,' which supports improvements in body fat reduction and living habits, will be held for 2 nights and 3 days, though you can choose different program lengths such as a day or a half-day depending on your purpose and schedule. The program must be booked at least two weeks in advance, and includes a wellness diet and a Vispa treatment program. The ‘balance program’ corrects posture, including in the hips and spine, by teaching participants how to maintain the right posture. The ‘detox program’ helps participants lose body weight and body fat, and improve their daily habits. The two programs run for 2 nights and 3 days, and participants can choose different program lengths such as a day or a half-day depending on their personal purpose and schedule. Reservation should be made at least two weeks in advance, and wellness diet and vispa treatment can be added.
